Broken loyalty

“Loyalty has become a thing fairy tales are made of. People no longer believe in staying true to those that matter. We have become self serving and seek instant gratification. When we don’t get what we think we deserve, we lie and we cheat and we manipulate, causing those around us a bitter pain.

I believe that once we nest in someone’s heart and we help them to carry their burdens that we are bound by loyalty to stay. Through good and bad, love and despair, we stay and we love and we hand ourselves over to that person, heart and soul.

We do not keep them under the sole of our shoe until they are useful to us again. We remain invested and attached and we protect that person with every ounce of fight we hold within ourselves. We don’t give up solely because they ache, not until we have had been so abused by someone that is all that’s left to do but leave.

We take the tarnish and sharp edges and broken pieces and help with the mend and we remain loyal. And we hold on headstrong and with fierceness until our hearts no longer converse and then and only then, with that bond broken, do we finally dissolve the pact of loyalty and truth.”

  1. “I believe that once we nest in someone’s heart and we help them to carry their burdens that we are bound by loyalty to stay.”

That is a very high standard to employ.

  2. Loyalty is exactly how I judge who to be friends with. If they are disloyal, then they just proved they aren’t worthy. I can’t disagree with your post, however, as I have nearly zero friends.

I hate to say it, but this thing we’re on right now, the technology, the blogs, the social media, the webs, the cell phone, etc. is probably a big reason we disconnect from reality and the traits that we once held so dear. You don’t have to be loyal to someone if you can hook up with another electronically. You had to be loyal to your neighbors in a village or small community, because you all relied on each other in times of need.

    Destination: end times.
